MONTREAL « Call-out for Presenters on Indigenous Languages for Native Montreal’s Indigenous Language Conference: August 16, 2023.
Native Montreal has long been an advocate for Indigenous languages and has offered Indigenous language courses for nearly 8 years. Our goal is to support the diverse urban Indigenous peoples in Tio’tia:ke (Montreal).
We chose to call the conference “Seven Generations Speaking Together” as languages are deeply rooted in our families and culture; past, present and future. We aim to create spaces that support generational learning and transmission of language in families and communities.
Our intention is to understand the challenges facing Indigenous language revitalization efforts. This conference will provide spaces for peoples to come together and present best practices, goals, challenges and solutions. »
